COMMON SENSE PROPHILATICS
1) NEVER give out personal information on any WEB site unless you have physically typed in the address and are certain of their address. NEVER click on links to a WEB site requesting personal info. Often they don't go where you think.
2) NEVER accept Internet offers to scan your computer for any purpose. Use only reputable com-mercial software that you purchase or the free stuff we have listed on this page. If in doubt, send us an e-mail for our recommendation.
3) If any offer sounds too good to be true, IT IS!
4) If any claim seems illogical, IT IS!
5) NEVER set your e-mail program to PREVIEW. Just opening an HTML e-mail can download a virus, spyware, or key-loggers. If you don't know who is sending you an e-mail don't open it.
6) Set your e-mail program to BLOCK all content that may contain dangerous code.
7) Keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware software up to date and schedule full system scans at least once a week.
8) "Google" the SUBJECT line of any e-mail that seems suspicious or makes illogical claims. Just type in the e-mail SUBJECT or the claim and let an Internet Search tell you if there are any advisories regarding it. It is very simple and fairly reliable.
